The first avalanche of tourists of the year will also be felt at the María Zambrano station. Renfe has announced that it is reinforcing the offer in Malaga in these first holidays of the year, with additional seats both on the AVE trains that connect the capital of Malaga with Madrid and on the Cercanías service, in which special trains have been scheduled at night. Specifically, the Madrid-Málaga Ave will expand its offer with the circulation of 30 trains in double composition from today until next Monday, April 18. In this way, 10,800 seats will be added to the usual offer of this high-speed relationship.

The railway company has recalled that «all AVE tickets to or from Malaga include the 'Combinado Cercanías', a code that allows free use of this service. The Cercanías ticket can be obtained and used during the four hours prior to the departure time of origin and during the four hours following the arrival time of the train at the destination». In addition, Renfe has indicated that with these reinforcements it contributes to sustainable mobility. «The additional seats provided for in the AVE Madrid-Málaga relationship would mean the circulation of 7,200 vehicles that would emit 700,000 kg of CO2 into the atmosphere. For its absorption, the equivalent of more than 4,000 trees for a year would be needed ». To which he adds, that the special device in the Cercanías «equivalent to the circulation of 22,500 vehicles that would emit, depending on the type of fuel, between 107,000 and 174,000 Kg of CO2, for whose absorption the equivalent of between 700 and 970 trees would be needed for a year".

Regarding the expansion of the Cercanías offer, the company indicates that from Palm Sunday, the service between Malaga and Fuengirola will reinforce its usual schedule with 48 special trains at night, with which the global offer will exceed half a million of seats, of which 33,800 will be additional. Renfe explained that "the 48 special trains on Line C-1 will run from the night of Palm Sunday until the night of Friday to Saturday, with departures between midnight and 3:20 p.m. depending on the day. ».
