The Natural Park Cliffs of Maro - Cerro Gordo borders the coast along 12 kilometers, between the coastal areas of the towns of Nerja (Málaga) and Almuñécar (Granada). Mainly characterized by the presence of steep and impressive cliffs. They reach up to 75 meters of unevenness. Among this wonderful string of cliffs we find splendid beaches and paradisiacal coves.
The Natural Park Cliffs of Maro - Cerro Gordo has a great landscape and environmental value . The peculiarity of its geological formations and the immense biodiversity (terrestrial and marine) that it houses make it a place in conservation.
It is worth highlighting the existence of populations of species classified as Vulnerable to Extinction. Some of them popularly known: orange coral and white rosemary.

This hiking route whose destination is the watchtower popularly known as La Torre de Maro is of a low level of difficulty. From here we encourage you to enjoy a pleasant walk and enviable views of the sea.
It should be noted that the presence of a watchtower in this section of the Maro Cliffs is not by chance. This is due to the spectacular panoramic views of the coast of Nerja and Granada that it offers us.
The indications to correctly follow the itinerary of the route are very simple. In fact, the access to the Torre de Maro is adequately signposted. At kilometer 297 of the N-340 we will see a dirt lane. We take this path from which we can contemplate on our left the many crops in the area, and on our right a beautiful pine forest. We continue along the path until we see the Torre de Maro in the distance. It should be noted that the presence of rosemary and thyme will make us enjoy this route even more.
The length from the trailhead to the Torre de Maro is barely a kilometer. Therefore, from here we offer you an even more complete alternative: Start the tour from the center of Nerja . From the Balcón de Europa the distance to travel would be 7 kilometers, while from the Nerja Bus Station it would be 6 kilometers. We must follow the signs to get to the district of Maro and from there follow the aforementioned indications. This route will make you discover the unique charm of Nerja and its district, Maro .
