The Barranco de La Coladilla belonging to the town of Nerja is an ideal place to enjoy the natural landscapes of Maro . This ravine has been formed by the water coming from the Arroyo de Cazadores. Very close to the Fuente de Esparto and the Barrancos de Maro. The Barranco de la Coladilla belongs to the Natural Park of the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama. It is a starting point for many hiking trails .
The Barranco de La Coladilla route is a semi-circular route of 6 and a half kilometers. The level of difficulty is low. The directions to follow by road are as follows: To access it, we must head towards the old San Joaquín factory from the N-340. We will take a lane located behind the remains of the factory. When traveling this lane we leave the Barranco de La Coladilla on our right. If we continue forward we will find the descent to the ravine.
One of the parking options can be an esplanade where it is possible to park for free. Very close to Las Cuevas de Nerja . From here we can start the route.
At the beginning of the route you will cross a wide path surrounded by pine trees. Then we continue along a path that we will see on our left. Along this path we will go down to the ravine. At this point we are in the most difficult section of the route. After running along a path with a steep slope, we will arrive at the ravine. However, if we walk with caution there will be no risk of falling. Once we have reached the ravine, the way to go will be surrounded by a lush green landscape . We will cross a forest full of eucalyptus trees and various rock formations that will attract our attention. There will come a time when rock formations will appear on both sides. The walls of the ravine formed of limestone sand are worth contemplating with tranquility. Due to the narrowness of the ravine we will be forced to continue along a path that we will see parallel to our left. After traveling about half a kilometer we will turn to the right to take another path. When traveling this new path we will have left the ravine. To find ourselves again in the section of pine trees at the beginning of the route. To finish the route we will continue along this comfortable and simple path. Near this point is the recreational area known as El Pinarillo . An ideal place to recharge your batteries or simply to spend the afternoon surrounded by family and friends. In fact, it is one of the most popular recreational areas among Nerja residents and visitors.
Finally, it should be noted that from the Barranco de la Coladilla you can enjoy one of the best panoramic views of the Aguila Aqueduct . Today this bridge is a popular symbol of Nerja. Formerly, the water from this aqueduct supported the former sugar factory mentioned above, the San Joaquín Factory.
