Nerja brings together numerous tourist attractions, due to its privileged coastal position and the development of its history. Sometimes it can be a difficult task to choose which places are worth visiting. Therefore, from here we recommend an itinerary divided into four days to make it more convenient for you to organize your next vacation in Nerja :
DAY 1: The start of the tour would be located on the Paseo del Balcón de Europa . Knowing the surroundings of the viewpoint will be a very enriching experience.
The Balcón de Europa viewpoint is surrounded by wonderful beaches. On one side you will see Calahonda Beach . To access it, you will cross the Boquete de Calahonda to lead to a paved walkway.
If you are a beach lover, we also recommend visiting La Caletilla and El Salón (beaches located at the other end of the viewpoint). Access to El Salón beach is easy to identify because it is close to the Church of El Salvador . It should be noted that El Salvador Church can be visited for free.
The next stop would be to walk one of the most emblematic streets of the urban area of Nerja: Hernando de Carabeo . Along this road you will see two splendid viewpoints: A viewpoint with views towards Carabeo beach and the Mirador del Bendito with views towards Carabeillo Beach.
For lunch we recommend you go to Calle Gloria (less than a minute from Calle Hernando de Carabeo). This road is considered the gastronomic heart of Nerja. Numerous traditional tapas bars will catch your eye. Although you can also choose from many other gastronomic options (Asian, Indian, Italian, etc.).
During the afternoon we recommend you visit the Museum of Nerja. Once the visit is over, we encourage you to watch the sunset from the Balcón de Europa Viewpoint.
DAY 2: The itinerary for this second day is closely related to the coast of Nerja. We recommend you enjoy the morning at Burriana Beach . We are talking about one of the most popular beaches in the town for the following reasons: It has a promenade and a wide range of gastronomic and leisure activities. If you are looking for fun this may be the ideal place. You will find the idea of having lunch at Burriana Beach great.
In the afternoon we encourage you to visit the other end of the Nerja coast. The promenade of Playa Torrecilla is also worth a stop. From here you can watch the sunset and then have dinner in the Plaza de Los Cangrejos.
DAY 3: For this third day we propose an alternative plan to the previous ones: A hiking route . Without a doubt, it is the best option to discover the wild charm of the Maro Cliffs.
The hiking trail is of a low level of difficulty. Recommended for all audiences. Also, this route is really complete. You will get to know the autochthonous nature of the Natural Area of the Maro - Cerro Gordo Cliffs and, you will contemplate one of the many watchtowers that are still preserved on the coast of Nerja: the Torre de Maro . The indications to correctly follow the itinerary of the route are simple. From the center of Nerja, the journey by car can take between 10 and 15 minutes.
Access to the Torre de Maro is adequately signposted. At kilometer 297 of the N-340 we will see a dirt lane. We take this path from which we can contemplate on our left the many crops in the area, and on our right a beautiful pine forest. We continue along the path until we see the Torre de Maro in the distance. It should be noted that the presence of rosemary and thyme will make us enjoy this route even more. The length from the trailhead to the Torre de Maro is barely a kilometer.
To take a break after the route, we recommend you have lunch in Maro . So you take the opportunity to get to know the urban area of the district of Nerja.
Throughout the afternoon you can visit La Cueva de Nerja. The duration of the visit can be approximately 50 minutes.
It should be noted that the points mentioned are close to each other. In addition, they have good road communication.
At night we encourage you to take a night walk through the urban area of Nerja (Calle Pintada, Calle Almirante Ferrándiz, Plaza la Ermita, etc.).
DAY 4: Throughout this day you will enjoy the rustic charm of the neighboring town of Nerja: Frigiliana . The journey by car from Nerja to Frigiliana is 15 minutes.
Frigiliana's own tourist attractions are the Palacio de los Condes and its Church. In addition, Zacatín, Alta and Santo Cristo streets are the best visual example of the unique charm that characterizes the town. Without a doubt, the essence of Frigiliana is purely rustic, which makes it one of the most beautiful white villages in Spain.
Finally, we recommend you to have lunch in an old village called El Azebuchal. 20 minutes by car from Frigiliana.
