Verano azul

Verano azul

Verano Azul is one of the most notable television phenomena of the 1980s. The 19 episodes that make up the series were shot in different locations in southern Spain. However, most of the filming took place in the coastal town of Nerja.

The success of this television series, directed by the brilliant filmmaker Antonio Mercero , has been reflected in different parts of the town. Nerja aims to keep the memory of Verano Azul alive.

In honor of the series, the Verano Azul Park was built. Located less than a kilometer from the Balcón de Europa Viewpoint. The Verano Azul Park is an open-air space that welcomes the cast of the series. Through decorative plates you will read the name and recognize the face of each of the characters that gave life to this endearing summer story (Pancho, Julia, Quique, Bea, Piranha and of course, Chanquete). It is in this park where the famous Dorada I boat is located. A replica of the peculiar boat in which Chanquete lived. One of the most popular symbols in the series. Unquestionably the Chanquete Boat is also a symbol of the history of Nerja.

In homage to its director, Antonio Mercero, a sculpture represents his effort and work on the seafront of Burriana Beach . At the end of this promenade, you can enjoy the famous paella at the beach bar that was part of the Verano Azul scenography.

The town does not forget Chanquete either. The eternal protagonist of Verano Azul. A statue in his honor rests on the beach promenade of Calahonda Beach. Contemplating the sea. As we remember it.

From here we encourage you to discover the tour of Nerja that will enliven the memory that you still have of Verano Azul. Through it you will get to know the most emblematic places in Nerja where most of the series was filmed. Including a visit that will allow you to know the wild charm characteristic of the district of Nerja: Maro . La Caleta de Maro is one of the beaches that is part of the wonderful plans in the series.
