The City Council presents the events of the International Day against Gender Violence

The Nerja City Council has prepared a series of events that will take place on the occasion of the International Day against Gender Violence. The first deputy mayor, Francisco Arce, presented the events together with Lola de Haro, legal advisor of the Municipal Information Center for Women of Nerja; Angeles Fernández, representing the women's associations of the municipality, and Daniel Rivas, councilor for Equality.

Francisco Arce reaffirmed, once again, ?our commitment to eradicate gender violence. We not only raise our voice against violence, but we also renew our commitment to educate, raise awareness and provide the necessary support to eliminate this scourge.? He added that "proof of this is the recent approval of the III Plan for Equality between Men and Women and the II Plan Against Gender Violence by our City Council."

The events will begin on the 20th with an educational campaign in the schools of Nerja and Maro, a campaign that will continue on the 21st and 22nd.

On Tuesday the 21st, a women's self-defense workshop will take place at the Municipal Women's Information Center. The schedule will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and prior registration is required.

On Friday the 24th, starting at 10:30 at the Villa de Nerja Cultural Center, a workshop for professionals called ?Trafficking in women for sexual exploitation? will take place. Keys and indicators for its detection.

That same day, starting at 6:00 p.m., at the Nerja Museum, a master conference will be held with the title ?Prostitution and trafficking. Can prostitution be considered a job? And it will be led by Rosa Cobo Badía, professor at the University of A Coruña and feminist writer.

On Saturday the 25th, at 9:00 a.m., banners will be placed at City Hall and at 5:00 p.m. the institutional event will take place with the reading of a manifesto. A tribute to the victims will then be held on the Balcony of Europe. At dusk, the City Hall and other municipal buildings will be illuminated purple.

On Sunday, November 26, the play ?He loves me, he doesn't hurt me? will be performed at the Villa de Nerja Cultural Center, by the company Terral. It will start at 7:00 p.m. and admission is free until capacity is reached.

Finally, on Monday the 27th, at 12:30 p.m. at the Villa de Nerja Cultural Center and for the students of the El Chaparil and Sierra Almijara high schools, a training workshop called ?Long live good love? will take place by Isa Duque.
