The Nerja City Council invests about 600,000 euros in works, decreed as an emergency by the mayor, José Alberto Armijo, to bring drinking water to Maro as soon as possible through a pipeline parallel to national 340, as reported by the Councilor for Infrastructure. , José Alberto Tomé.
These works, to connect the supply network of Nerja with that of Maro, had already begun and in fact a first phase has already been carried out, but the situation that occurred in Maro when the water in its supply network was declared non-potable has motivated that the following phases of the work be expedited as much as possible with the declaration of emergency, as indicated by Tomé.
The councilor has indicated that the work is being carried out taking advantage of the bike lane works currently underway, which is why he has indicated that the drinking water from Nerja will reach the center of Maro in "a reasonably short period of time." The pipeline being installed will connect to a section of an old one dating back to the 90s. Regardless of this connection. The construction of the new one will continue, which will also supply water to the urbanizations, in addition to the center of Maro.
Apart from these works in Nerja, the councilor recalled that others were already being carried out to prevent the effects of the drought, such as the connection of the residential and industrial areas of Castillo Alto to the municipal water supply network to the with a budget of 313,505.86 euros.
This action will ensure supply to the urbanizations of La Noria and Pueblo Rocío, to the industrial estate of Castillo Alto and to all the urbanizable sectors in the surrounding area, according to José Alberto Tomé.
