The Brotherhood of Our Lady of Angustias and San Miguel Arcángel has been in charge of announcing the Nerja Fair 2023. Miguel Hermoso was the spokesperson for the people who make up said brotherhood and the person in charge of a mission ?that is marked by the heart and the feelings".
And it was precisely the heart and a lot of feeling that Miguel Hermoso put into the proclamation. He said that the Fair has a ?beautiful mission? since, like the lighting that adorns the streets of Nerja, the Fair ?teaches us to illuminate the passage of the people who walk next to us, sometimes immersed in their own darkness.? He added that, ?our life has to be another Fair: light, clarity, brilliance, radiance, brilliance, candle, flame and torch?for those who live with us or come from outside, always find the path of joy.?
He continued his speech saying that ?we are called to form the same link, like those little pieces of paper that we see on the chains that hang.? And "the Fair invites us to be the lanterns that move continuously with the breeze that comes from our blue sky and our blue and indigo sea."
But Miguel Hermoso did not forget the reason and the driving force of the Fair and that they are none other than "the Mother, the Virgin of Sorrows and our Patron Saint, San Miguel Arcángel." He said that ?they come out to our streets to share with us those days of joy and fun, moments in which our eyes meet theirs, and the emotion and tears are transformed into what the eyes of the soul can see: Heart of Mother and Soul defender of your Protective Archangel.?
He asked that ?the procession of our Patron Saints does not lack either our men or our women of the throne, bearers of Faith, very important pillars that support all the weight. "Do not lack the accompaniment in your walk through our streets."
The crier was not alone on stage and not only recited, but also sang some sevillanas dedicated to Nerja, whose author is none other than the parish priest of El Salvador, Antonio Jesús Carrasco, and in which other members of the Brotherhood participated, such as Mari Carmen Padial and Montse Platero, on dance, and James Heptonstall, on guitar.
At the end of the proclamation, which was greatly applauded, the mayor, José Alberto Armijo, in the company of the councilor of the Fiesta Mayor, Elena Gálvez, gave the eldest brother of the Brotherhood, Francisco José Martín, the crier and his companions a plaque of gratitude.
Prior to the event, the Municipal Music Band, directed by David Palomas, offered a concert and at the end of the proclamation performed the anthems of Andalusia and Spain.
