Nerja, May 11, 2022.-
The Blue Flag will fly this summer on three beaches in the municipality. Maro beach joins those of Burriana and La Torrecilla, which since last year have held this distinction awarded annually by the Association for Environmental and Consumer Education (ADEAC) in recognition of the quality of bathing waters, the state of the beaches and the services offered to its users.
For the Mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, the fact that the municipality increases the number of Blue Flag beaches is a source of satisfaction and encouragement to continue working on the consolidation of our sun and sand offer. "It is a recognition of Nerja as a reference tourist destination on the Costa del Sol, and the work carried out by the Department of Beaches to improve the quality of services on our beaches." The councilor has also highlighted the role played by the business tourism sector linked to the beach in this recognition, "offering good services and an attractive experience for our neighbors and visitors."
For her part, the Councilor for Beaches, María del Carmen López, has also highly valued the award of the three Blue Flags for the impact it has on our people. "This acknowledgment encourages us to continue working with the aim of adding new distinctions that certify the quality of our beaches."
The Blue Flags are a badge that is granted after ADEAC inspections and audits to those municipalities that request it. Thus, a series of information, environmental education, water quality, environmental management, safety and service criteria must be met.
