Nerja continues to increase the number of inhabitants and is already close to 22,000

Nerja has almost 22,000 inhabitants, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics as of January 1 of this year. Specifically, there are 21,913, although the final figure would be somewhat higher once the files currently in process are concluded.

In Nerja there are more women than men, although the numbers are very even. Specifically, 50.89 percent are women and 49.11 percent are men. Since 2014, the number of inhabitants in the municipality has increased almost every year, around 3 percent. Last year the population registry showed 21,450 people.

The number of 21,913 inhabitants reported by the National Statistics Institute is for information purposes and is no longer subject to appeal by the City Council at this stage of the process. Within the period provided for this, the City Council presented about 100 allegations, the majority of them being accepted. The final figure of the registry of inhabitants of Nerja will be official once it is approved by the Government and published in the Official State Gazette.
