Nerja commemorates International Migrant Day

The Nerja City Council commemorated today, December 18, the International Migrant Day, with an event held in the Plenary Hall in which an institutional declaration was read, adopted by all the political groups, which agreed to join to the manifesto approved by the Permanent Commission of the Provincial Forum for the integration of People of Migrant Origin in Malaga.

In the manifesto, the City Council calls for joint action, promoting meetings that address the current migratory reality, paying special attention to the integration of those people who have decided to build a new home among us. It also highlights the fundamental role of administrations in guaranteeing coexistence and solidarity, committed to contributing to the cohesion of our society and actively rejecting all xenophobic or racist manifestations that undermine coexistence in our municipality.

The document has been read by the first deputy mayor, Francisco Arce; the Councilor for Social Services, Daniel Rivas; and the spokespersons of the Municipal Groups of the Popular Party, Ángela Díaz, Socialist Party, Alejandro Barba, and Podemos Izquierda Unida, Luis Peña
