The president of the Commonwealth of Municipalities of the Costa del Sol Axarquía, Jorge Martín, and the vice president of the Equality area, Mari Carmen Moreno, have presided today over the third edition of the ?Rural Women of Axarquía Recognition? on the occasion of the International Day of Rural Woman celebrated on October 15. The town councils of the region have been in charge of choosing each of the people to whom the recognition has been given.
On behalf of Nerja, María Rodríguez Fernández has been awarded, ?for being a very hardworking woman in a very beautiful rural area but far from population centers, such as Río de la Miel, where it was not easy to survive and for supporting her family. in a time of difficulties and for always doing it with optimism.? The winner could not attend the event and the award was collected by the Councilor for Equality, Daniel Rivas. However, in a few days the award will be presented to María Rodríguez Fernández from the mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo. and the president of the Commonwealth in an event that will take place at the Nerja City Hall.
Likewise, in the special recognition section, the Nerja Athletics Club has been awarded with the Women's Sports Award, which was collected by Isabel Sánchez and Maria Carmen Armijo. Also attending were the Sports Councilor of the Nerja City Council, Marcelo Berutti, and the president of the Andalusian Athletics Federation, Enrique López Cuenca.
