Almost half of the weddings that take place in Nerja are for foreign citizens

Look at this?, was the forceful response of Elisabeth, a young Guinean, to the Councilor for Tourism, Ana María Muñoz, when she asked her today in the Balcón de Europa the reason why she has chosen Nerja to get married. Today was one of the 40 weddings that, so far this year, foreign citizens have performed in Nerja. On this occasion the bride and groom, Elisabeth, from Guinea; and Ivan, from Russia; They have traveled to Nerja to celebrate their civil wedding after spending their holidays in the town and being delighted. A nice couple who already have Nerja as an eternal witness to their love story.

The bride and groom, and the guests, have posed for posterity in the Balcón de Europa, and the Councilor for Tourism, Ana María Muñoz, has had the opportunity to congratulate them and encourage them to continue visiting the municipality in the future.

Ana María Muñoz has highlighted that Nerja is one of the most requested municipalities in the province to get married by citizens of other countries. In fact, it occupies the third position, after Marbella and Benalmádena ?and there are more and more foreign boyfriends who want to join their lives here because they love Nerja,? he noted.

From January to today, 91 weddings have been celebrated in Nerja, both religious and civil, according to data provided by the Nerja Civil Registry. Of these 91 relationships, in 51 of them the spouses have been Spanish and in 40, foreigners.

Among foreign weddings and by nationality, those who lead the list have no rival, since they are Irish Catholics, with a total of 21 weddings, which are usually celebrated in the church of El Salvador and Las Maravillas de Maro.

In second place, but much further away, are the couples from the United Kingdom, with 5, followed by Italians and Colombians, with 3 weddings.

Next are Cubans and Argentines, with 2 weddings, and with one wedding are Brazilians, Germans and Chinese. Today the aforementioned wedding of Elisabeth and Iván, from Guinea and Russia, took place.
